Family Therapy
Family dynamics can be complicated.
Whatever your family is going through, therapy can help you navigate transitions together and create meaningful change in your relationships with one another.
Family therapy addresses specific issues that impact the family unit. Often, this approach can be used to help a family work through a major transition or to address the behavioural or psychological issues of one or more members. Other times, a family may just need help improving their relationship dynamics in everyday life. Family therapy’s ultimate goal is to improve the family unit’s overall functioning and its individual members' wellbeing.
Working with a professional therapist can help you to understand the emotions and perspective of your loved ones so that you can communicate more effectively, enrich your family life and strengthen your relationships.
My Approach
Human beings thrive in environments that make us feel safe, heard, and valued. Feeling a sense of belonging and connection with our families is critical to our well-being. However, differing personalities, generation gaps, and external stressors can make it difficult for family members to remain synchronized which can lead to conflict, stress and resentment.
It doesn’t have to be this way! Happy families are not a coincidence. I will take the time to understand each individual and design your sessions to best suit the unique needs of your family members.
Together, we can take intentional steps towards a more harmonious home by:
Understanding what each family members needs, finds challenging, appreciates, and is looking to change.
Translating these needs and desires and developing strategies to bridge the gap between the needs of each individual.
Creating an environment of respect where all family members feel valued, safe and supported.
Discovering new ways to communicate that allow for more joyous and peaceful relationships.
“We can change our whole life and the attitude of people around us simply by changing ourselves.”
